AWC IS SETTING THE TONE
Artwallcollection designs seamless, bespoke wall coverings for hotels, restaurants and clubs. Not wallpaper off the roll, but large-scale wall art up to 15 metres wide and 5 metres high, designed by Hanneke van de Pol. Every project is a direct collaboration between her and the interior architect, or directly with the owner — from first proposal to installation. Previous work includes Hotel de L'Europe (Bord'Eau), Lucky Cat London (Gordon Ramsay), Jimmy Woo Amsterdam, Kasteel Kerckebosch and Badhotel Domburg.

I work from a studio in Arnhem where paint, photography and computers sit side by side. My background is in painting, etching, oil, screen printing, linocut and that craft layer has never left. The work I make today for hotels, restaurants and clubs almost always begins by hand or eye: a sketch, a painting, a photograph, a classical pattern pulled from history. On screen, I keep painting, digitally now, but with the same gestures. I restore and reinterpret classical patterns, from art deco, the orient, botanical drawing and bring them back in a new context. I work alongside interior architects as a thinking partner, not as a supplier. A concept emerges in conversation with the room, with the chef's kitchen, with the history of the building, with the guests who will come. That is what setting the tone means to me: a wall that doesn't decorate a room, but defines what happens in it.
